Pasteurella spp.

Pasteurella spp. causes Fowl Cholera in poultry. Turkeys are especially sensitive to infection with Pasteurella, and mortality can be high in the flock. The disease can display itself in an acute and chronic form. Acute Fowl Cholera is characterized by a rapid increase in mortality in the flock, with symptoms such as anorexia, diarrhea, and depression. The chronic form involves localized infections, including swollen wattles, joints, and footpads.
