Avian Encephalomyelitis (AE)
Avian encephalomyelitis (AE) is caused by a picornavirus. In young birds, AE first infects the gastrointestinal tract and then spreads through the bloodstream to the central nervous system. Chickens aged 1-2 weeks may display ataxia and tremors of head and neck. Layers may experience a temporary drop in egg production, but they do not exhibit neurological signs.
AeroCollect® can detect AE in the air, allowing for timely interventions and improved disease control.
