Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV) is highly contagious, and morbidity can reach 100% in the poultry flock. In addition to respiratory clinical signs, a drop in egg production can be seen, and eggs can appear misshapen.
AeroCollect® detects the presence of IBV in the air and makes it possible to distinguish between wild strain or vaccine strain. AeroCollect® can be used as an alternative to traditional tracheal swabs and simplifies the sampling procedure.
On suspicion or during surveillance of IBV in the flock, AeroCollect® can aid in determining whether the pathogen is present. During an active infection, animals will be amplifying and excreting IBV to the environment. This excretion can be detected in the air with the AeroCollect® air samples.
